It’s impressive how a single game can change the financial statements of a company or at least how a single game can alter the overall performance of a certain gaming console.
Well, may be its not as simple as that for we are talking about the sales figures of Nintendo’s Wii U that have shot up and because the game we are talking about is not just another game but The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD.
The device’s sales in United Kingdom made a hike of more than 685 percent in just a single week post the HD version release of the 10 on 10 scoring action adventure game. Wind Waker HD was released on October 4.
Another arguable reason for the unbelievably steep rise in the sales units could be the reduced price of Wii U – but then again the customers had to have something to play on it and that something had to be worthwhile.
This comes in courtesy of MCV UK who talked to Nintendo on the matter. “The sudden improvement in sales follows the debut of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, which debuted at No.4 in the Chart-Track All-Formats Charts last week” they said.
“Wii U has suffered a poor nine months, which Nintendo attributes to a lack of awareness and the absence of major software.” Indeed the past months have been poor and I wouldn’t strike out the lack of games for being one of the major reasons for it.
We know that Nintendo is going to announce an update to the platform around October 30 so, do you expect good fortune to shine over them or will they need that update to do the trick for Wii U?
