NYCC 2013: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Game Announced
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters next year in spring and will be accompanied by a game as well of the same name, Marvel announced at their New York Comic Con 2013 panel yesterday.
However, this isn’t a tie-in with the movie itself. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is essentially a sequel to the first Amazing Spider-Man game but will offer a unique story from the upcoming movie.
According to the game’s executive producer Stephane Gravel, characters from the film will be indeed included but players should expect the return of many classic comic icons. He didn’t mention as to who exactly.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is going to be set up in an expanded world of Manhattan, with our slinging hero using new upgrades, abilities and being offered new challenges. Compared to the first game, web slinging has been vastly improved and will be there in different types.
“Webs are a big part of Spider-Man, so the cool things we’re doing differently this time is that we have different types of webbing,” Gravel said. “We have your typical impact webbing, your regular vanilla webbing. We are also going to have cryo-webbing. It sort of adds an RPG-like element.”
“Some people complained that the webs didn’t attach to the buildings and they’re going to do that now,” he said.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will release next year for pretty much all available platforms – PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, 3DS and PC. You can watch the teaser trailer used to announce the game above.
