If you’ve been playing Vanillaware’s latest side-scrolling action RPG, Dragon’s Crown, on both the Vita and the PS3, then you’re probably as annoyed with its lack of cross-play functionality as everyone else who owns the game on both platforms.
To cast aside your woes, Atlus has announced an update that will let you cross-play between the two Sony devices.
The patch; which was made available for the Japanese version of the game earlier today, will be making its way to North America “very soon”, according to Atlus. The news of the NA version of the patch was revealed via an e-mail; sent to those who’re part of the ‘Atlus Faithful’ mailing list, which read:
“Since launch, we’ve been hearing from our fans how much they wanted Cross-Play in Dragon’s Crown. Vanillaware was focused on delivering the best game possible, so we couldn’t include it at launch, but we’ve been supporting the title ever since! Now, we’re stoked to tell you that Cross-Play is on its way to North America, and the update will be arriving very soon. Stay tuned for more details!”
So far, the confirmation is only for a North American version of the cross-play patch. Although there has been no mention of Europe anywhere, it’s safe to assume that a European patch will come eventually as well. Even so, an official confirmation would have helped eliminate any doubts we might have.
Vanillware has promised more updates for the game in the future. We’re excited to see what more they have in store for their already amazing side-scrolling, action-RPG/Brawler hybrid. If the lack of cross-play functionality has been holding you back from getting Dragon’s Crown, then don’t hold back any longer.
