BioWare has announced that they will be introducing Player-vs-Player combat to their free-to-play MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic, later this year.
The news may come as ordinary to new players but old veterans will be dancing with joy since they’ve been waiting to test out their skills against another human player in the arena for nearly two years, ever since the MMO was launched.
According to the announcement, the addition of PvP will be alongside the upcoming Galactic Starfighter expansion scheduled to go live on December 3, 2013. It will bring forth 12v12 battles, as well as new starships, a “wide set” of customization and upgrade options, multiple battle zones, and new gameplay modes.
Subscribers of the game will be eligible for early access to Galactic Starfighter starting on the same December 3 date, while those playing for free will be given access on February 4, 2014.
“Galactic Starfighter will be a deep experience that will continue to grow over time,” BioWare Austin general manager Jeff Hickman said in a statement. “We can’t wait for both our current and new players to get their hands on it soon.”
