Good news for the Australians Aye! Looks like their most loved and the world-famous race tract of Mount Panorama is making its way to Gran Turismo 6.
Polyphony Digital the developer has confirmed along with a new trailer and a couple of impressive new screenshots that Bathurst, officially known as the Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit will be making its debut in the racing simulation series.
Apart from the evident popularity of the four-mile long race track, another reason or its inclusion in the game could be the fact that rival simulation racer Forza 5 is also going to feature the same track.
Polyphony’s official website emphasizes the game track’s difficulty saying: “The course combines extreme climbs and descents as well as a long straightaway, and is 6.213km (4 miles) long. With very little run off area all around the track, mastery of this course will take some serious concentration.”
On the other hand, the mountainous region will enclose you in concrete walls “creating a moment of tension for drivers challenging the track. This will require all your attention to be on the load balance of all four tires as you speed through its tight corners.
Kazunori Yamauchi, the head of Polyphony who himself is a racing enthusiast considers this a pleasure along with being an evident choice saying: “It seems only right that the legendary Mount Panorama circuit is included as fans will now have a chance to drive one of the toughest tracks out there.”
It appears from Yamauchi’s comments that Bathurst is going to be included as one of the tougher tracks to be up for the challenge in the game: “Described by some as Australia’s very own Nürburgring, this is a formidable track that will provide an exciting new challenge for PlayStation gamers” he said.
This is of course not a total surprise as earlier Polyphony was spotted surveying Mount Panorama back in 2011, and of course, it could have been so for only one reason.
The trailer that accompanied the news shows off, apart from the excruciatingly realistic graphics, Bathurst and the scenic beauty of Mount Panorama in the background. It looks pretty impressive to me – check it out yourself.
Gran Turismo 6 is to be a PlayStation 3 exclusive title that will come out into the market on December 6.
