A new trailer released for Batman: Arkham Origins – Blackgate provides us with a glimpse of gameplay for the handheld title. You can check it above if you’re interested in seeing the Dark Knight head over into a prison and mop up the floor with some imprisoned super-villains.
Blackgate is side-scrolling 2.5D brawler and being developed by Armature Studio for the PlayStation Vita and 3DS. The team behind the title comprises of a number of developers who previously have worked on Metroid Prime. That’s probably the reason why Blackgate shows off as a Metroid-like sidescroller and looks actually nice to play.
While Blackgate might not necessarily grant you as much freedom as Origins, Batman still can grapple with enemies, use many of his gadgets and most of all, features the “free-flow” combat system that was included in the previous two Arkham games. Though in Blackgate it’s tailored for the new perspective.
Batman: Arkham Origins – Blackgate is being published by Warner Bros. Interactive and will release on October 25 for the Vita and 3DS. It’s release will accompany that of its console counterpart, Batman: Arkham Origins, which will release for the PS3, Xbox and PC on the same day.
