Head on over to GreenManGaming and check out the posting for Titanfall to see for yourself. Right underneath the pictures it says, ‘Please note that the free third-party service, Origin, must be used to activate this title.’
This may possibly mean that the PC version of the game will be exclusive to Origin. While that’s just a speculation right now, it’s been the case that no Origin-required game with DLC ever appears on Steam these days until a “GOTY/Maximum edition” is out with all the DLC bundled in.
Meaning we might not see this on Steam for a long, long time.
What’s interesting is that if it’s an Origin exclusive, that decision will have come directly from Respawn Entertainment themselves, since this is being published under EA Partners. Respawn control the IP themselves and can choose to self-publish if they want.
This isn’t really a problem to be honest. Valve does much the same thing. And if you happen to not like the title you can easily get a full refund.
Titanfall was revealed to the world at Microsoft’s E3 press conference earlier this year and won numerous awards for being generally awesome looking. It took over 60 E3 Awards including Best of Show, Best Original game, and Best Online Multiplayer, as well as several critics’ choice awards from IGN, Game Informer, and Destructoid.
Players fight either on foot as free-running “pilots” or inside agile mech-style walkers called “Titans” to complete team-based objectives. The game is multiplayer-only, but injects single-player elements such as plot, character chatter, and non-player characters into its matches. It is Respawn Entertainment’s first game, and is scheduled for release in 2014
