PS4 Wakes up for Remote Downloads, Shuts down Automatically

Those days are long gone when you had to bear the troublesome procedures of downloading from your devices while having to keep an eye on it for it might budge. Sony’s next machine will let you download games from your smartphones by automatically turning itself on through the download and shut down when the download completes.

As sighted by a NeoGAF user, Shuhei Yoshida was asked on twitter by a user “when I buy a game for the PS4 via Vita or smartphone, do I need the PS4 on to instantly download it?”

The President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Yoshida replied that downloading a game from the smart phone will activate the console automatically, complete the download and then the console will shut down on its own.

“When you buy a PS4 game on smartphone, it will wake your PS4 up to start downloading the game. PS4 goes back to sleep after that”

I believe many of us would have wanted to experience something similar; an “always online” resembling feature that is optional i.e. at the will of the user. It could make life easier for some of us insofar that one could buy a game from the phone while at school and come back home to meet the game ready for you. Now that is good news!

Indeed it is good news but wait, doesn’t this mean a bigger dent on that wallet of yours? The more accessible downloads are, the higher is the probability of your spending taking a hike. Well… then again, Sony isn’t forcing anyone into use this feature.

Personally I thinking this is going to be quite a popular choice for users who still would have spent a considerable amount on games, this would just be an easier way to go about doing it. Do let us know what your take on this is.
