Okay so, hasn’t it been a while since Maxis shared some stuff about what exactly are we looking at with The Sims 4? Indeed it has. We had been promised insights into the game at this year’s Gamescom and here we are with what we have learnt. First things first, the game will be playable offline – what a relief.
Not many of us would have forgotten what a fuss it was when the SimCity an online only title hit the trenches. The continuing problems that lasted quite a few of its initial weeks and the fact that anyone who had limited access to the internet was left out of all the fun made sure that the game received noticeable criticism. This eventually led the developers to announce that SimCity might get an offline mode.
For The Sims 4 however, EA won’t even take that chance and they have announced outright that the game will be an offline one. It goes without saying that the usual internet related updates and content downloads will still be there just like the previous versions of the game.
The previous installment in the series, The Sims 3 received a bulk of 20 expansion packs and if we can trust EA to maintain the same rigor with the content, an offline mode could be the best option for a game that requires a life.
The Sims 4’s improvements above its predecessors include a much better usage of emotions too; your Sim’s moods will impact their activities as well as abilities. For instance an angry Sim does mean that he will not be a good company but it will now also mean that you can use his anger or infuriation to make him write a good book or paint a good painting, go out and work his ass off or make one hell of a running session!
Other than that, the aspect of jealousy will be at play too. If a Sim is successfully flirting with another, the third one might get jealous and try doing the same on his/her own. If he/she gets turned down it would upset their mood.
Your Sims will be highly customizable now with 18 different areas of their body that you will be allowed to alter according to your preference just like you will be able to build better homes by picking pre designed rooms and fixing them together.
The Sims 4 comes out in the first half of 2014, who is excited?
