Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft Beta Started
Closed Beta Testing for Mac and Windows PC has begun for Blizzard’s new and upcoming strategy card game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. The game is free-to-play and open for anyone to join up.
You can head on over to your Battle.net account and just opt into the beta. Hopefully you’ll get an invite when the next wave of emails go out. Invites have already been sent out to press and fan sites as well as players who’ve opted into the beta.
The main purpose of the beta is to try and balance the game. Players can buy cards and decks from the game’s store, but Blizzard warns players that their decks will get wiped at some points. When that happens, players will be receiving gold credit equivalent to their purchases so they don’t just lose money.
You can check out the FAQ that Blizzard have published here if you have additional queries. This closed beta also provides players a chance to test out the new Battle.net desktop client which was released in beta a few days ago.
Hearthstone was announced at PAX East way back in March, and was expected to have a 2013 release date. It’ll be available for Windows PC, Mac and iPad platforms.
In Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, players choose one of nine Warcraft heroes to play as, and then take turns playing cards from their customizable decks to cast potent spells, use heroic weapons or abilities, or summon powerful characters to crush their opponent.
Lastly, the Beta is currently only for the US, but Blizzard hopes to expand it soon to other regions after some results come in from the North American testing.
