According to the spotting of a recent online resume, Warner Bros. Interactive may be working on a new AAA game based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings fantasy series.
The LinkedIn profile in question is that of a former employee of Monolith Productions/WB Games Seattle who allegedly created the storyboards for the unannounced Lord of the Rings title. The posting marks this to have happened in December and January after Guardians of Middle-Earth was released.
Other aspects such as Monolith Productions posting a new job listing back in May for a cross-generational AAA action-adventure game and another job posting just last week for a lead mission designer with “open-world mission design” experience suggest that the game may indeed exist.
Warner may be refusing to comment on the matter right now but we do know that the title is called “Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor”, as according to a recent trademark filing.
The last Lord of the Rings console title was Lego: Lord of the Rings, which released last year. It followed Lord of the Rings: War in the North, which launched in November 2011.
