Humble Origin Bundle, Full of Great EA Games

Charity is awesome. Games are awesome. When the two come together, super-awesome should follow, and that’s one of the reasons that I love the Humble Bundles so much, because they give gamers great value for great games, and they still manage to give so much money to charity.

They’ve raised millions of dollars for charity, and got millions of games to millions of gamers. It’s like one big barrel of happiness. These aren’t games to be laughed at either, there’s some big titles in the bundle, and you get to decide whether your money goes to charity, the publisher/devs, or the Humble Bundle team themselves.

Following the success of the brilliant Deep Silver bundle that they just ran, the people behind the Humble Bundles today revealed the new Humble Origin Bundle that gives you eight fantastic games for less than $5 (at time of writing).

You’ll need Origin to redeem the games, but some of them will also be redeemable on Steam.

So what’s in this bundle? There’s six games if you only want to pay a meager donation, but there’s a couple of other titles if you beat the average donation (currently standing at $4.66).

First game(s) available are Dead Space, along with Dead Space 3 (though no mention of the interceding Dead Space 2). The first title really set itself aside as a cultural icon in the horror genre, and Dead Space 3 continues that tradition.

Second in the bundle is Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, which is one of the best racing titles that EA have ever published.

Crysis 2: Maximum Edition is also included, and seems to fill the numerical gap between Dead Space and Dead Space 3. Whilst this game wasn’t received as well by the PC community it was still a great game in its own right.

Medal of Honor is also included, adding some more high-octane FPS action on top of Crysis 2.

And for me, the best part of this base package was the inclusion of Mirror’s Edge, which is one of the best first-person games that’s been released. With the impending Mirror’s Edge 2 on the horizon, this is the perfect time to pick up this gem of a game if you haven’t already.

And for those of you that beat the average donation, you’ve got a couple of treats in store. For just that little bit extra you’ll get Battlefield 3, which I’m sure you’ve already heard of, as well as The Sims 3 with a starter pack of DLC to keep you occupied.

There’s some real bang for your buck. Just to put a cherry on this very delicious cake, EA have already promised to donate 100% of any proceedings they raise to charity, meaning that more money than ever before will be going to charity from one of these bundles.
