Dragon’s Crown Sorceress Builds, Combat and Skills Guide

By   /   Aug 9, 2013

In Dragon’s Crown, the Sorceress character differs vastly from the Wizard. Though physically weak, the Sorceress attains her brilliance in the battlefield not just by her heavily exposed cleavage, but also by her knowledge and control of unorthodox magic, including necromancy and elemental abilities.

In team fights, the Sorceress takes up the role of an offensive support character with various utility-based abilities. This makes her a forced to be reckoned with, as she can combine unorthodox magic skills with offense ones, and also chip in potions for buffs for allies.

Ideally, the ranged character should be behind all the rest of the characters in a team game, giving out aid whenever necessary and strengthening the group with added undead units.

Dragon’s Crown Sorceress Builds, Combat and Skills

How To Play Sorceress

The Sorceress is heavily dependent on MP and the correct usage of her wide range of skills, making a more tactics-based character as compared to the rest. The following are some highlights of the Sorceress:

  • The Sorceress is a ranged character, making her too vulnerable and slow for close-ranged combat
  • The Sorceress relies more on her skills than her basic attacks
  • The Sorceress has very high magic defense, but very low physical defense
  • Intense management of MP is required for playing the Sorceress properly
  • It is important to keep a ‘support’ frame of mind while playing as the Sorceress
  • One of the more difficult classes of the game
  • Responsible for covering/protecting allies and strengthening the team

Small Magic attack will be your basic attack. It is important to consider the enemy’s elemental weakness while using the attacks. All elements except fire tend to have a special effect for Small Magic attacks. However, thunder tends to have the best attack magnification. Since the MP cost of the attack is low, it can be spammed for a good time.

Another great ability worth highlighting is the Magic Missile. This is a get counter skill whenever you dodge enemy attacks. The three missiles tend to home towards enemies, and the MP cost is low, making it a reliable skill.

A very powerful basic attack is the Surface-to-Air magic. This attack sends out an enemy or set of enemies flying in the air. The damage and CC aspect of the attack is very useful, particularly in offensively aiding allies, but it can completely empty your MP pool, so use it only when it is very necessary.

Sorceress Special Skills/Abilities

Special Skills in Dragon’s Crown are trademark abilities unique for every character. These skills are unlocked as you level up your character. Generally, most of the Special Skills are fairly easy to execute.

All skills have a specific number of levels, with certain prerequisites for unlocking each level (number of skill points, player level, etc.). Higher the level, the more potent the skill becomes.

The Sorceress character in Dragon’s Crown has 15 total skills. Each one is described below, and recommended skills are also suggested.

Mental Absorb
This ability allows the Sorceress to regain some Mana whenever an enemy is killed. The amount of Mana regained increases with the increase in level of the skill.

Sorceress Builds

The Sorceress is fairly versatile with her builds. Remember, she is a support character, so it is quite essential to be a selfless when building the character. The Sorceress build will allow you to be a vital part of your team, so much that they won’t be able to survive with you. We’ll show you some examples of how to build your support Sorceress.

Note that common skills are not included in these builds.

Build #1 – Icy Protector

Skills:

  • Mental Absorb – Maxed level
  • Protection – Maxed level
  • Create Food – Maxed level
  • Gravity – Highly leveled
  • Concentrate – Partially leveled
  • Ice Jail – Partially leveled

This build utilizes the most basic parts of being a support: giving allies as much aid as possible. Your two major skills are Protection and Create Food, and when your teammates don’t need help, then consider abilities like Gravity and Ice Jail.

These two abilities are excellent CC skills that will help your allies take out dangerous foes. It’s best to be a bit careful while using Gravity though, as you can accidentally save enemies from onslaught with it. Make sure to practice the skill to get a good hang of it. Ice Jail is fairly simple, and works wonders against bid advancing melee enemies.

When you’re out of Mana, you should get back and Concentrate. Be sure to let your allies know about this, so they can become a bit defensive.
