Dragon’s Crown Amazon Builds, Combat and Skills Guide

By   /   Aug 9, 2013

The Amazon in Dragon’s Crown is a brute force character that is an expert in wielding two handed swords and dealing huge amounts of physical damage with the heavy swings of her weapon.

Though the Amazon herself wears ‘lightwUp’ clothes, her massive weapons (not those two) are slow to swing. Because of this, the Amazon sits in between the Fighter and Dwarf, since she is not as fast as the Fighter, but not as vulnerable to physical damage as the Dwarf.

When unarmed, the Amazon deals heavy damage with her kicks. The key important aspect of the character is the ability to gain momentum; their power and speed increase as more enemies are slain. Generally, Amazons are far weaker in defense than Fighters.

Dragon’s Crown Amazon Builds, Skills and Combat

How To Play Amazon

The Amazon class requires players to gain momentum in order to take best use of her. Thus, the character seems to work best when battling large groups of enemies or even bosses. In addition, the Amazon’s skills are one of the best in the game, greatly enhancing her physical prowess (even more!), speed, and defense.

The following are the highlights of the Amazon class:

  • The Amazon is a melee class, meaning you’ll be close up to deal damage
  • The character is NOT an initiator. Instead, consider the Amazon as a constant spike damage dealer
  • The Amazon is a bit unreliable when it comes to movement speed and attack speed at normal rate
  • With the Amazon, your key objective should be to build momentum and carry out non-stop harassment
  • The Amazon is fairly easy to play with, provided players can gain momentum before enemies have a chance to retaliate
  • Though low on defense, the Amazon is excellent against bosses

The best initiating or finishing move is generally the Fall Attack, even when Berserk has not been initiated.

Amazon Special Skills/Abilities

Special Skills in Dragon’s Crown are unique abilities that define the character. They have a wide variety of effects, ranging from heavy damage skills with flashy animations to buffs that would nullify the weakness of your character.

The Amazon class has 12 different skills, of which most of them are offensive abilities or passive offensive buffs.

These skills are detailed below, along with required level, skill level, and required skill points for every level. Recommended skills will also be highlighted in their description.

This skill causes ground attacks to have multiple hits. It is an excellent precursor for the Berserk state of the Amazon, which really defines the class’s characteristics. Thus, Overlap is a highly recommended skill.

Brandish is probably one of the best active offensive skills in the game. This ability adds additional rotation attacks to your ground attacks. The number of attacks that can be added also increase with the increase in skill level. Like Overlap, Brandish is an excellent precursor for Berserk mode and thus is highly recommended.

Berserk
The Berserk skill is the core of a powerful and successful Amazon. This skill enhances your power whenever you land consecutive attacks, or ‘gain’ momentum. Because it is a skill that truly defines the Amazon character, it is very highly recommended.

Adrenaline
As the HP of the Amazon decreases, the power of her attacks significantly increase. This may sound like a very tempting skill, but generally you would want to back off whenever there is a large dip in your HP, since the Amazon doesn’t have defenses like a fighter.

Skill Performed:
N/A

Skill Points Needed:

  • Lvl 1 – 1
  • Lvl 2 – 1

  • Lvl 7 – 51

War Paint
The War Paint skill creates a shadow of yourself that copies the exact moves that you do. As this greatly increases the reach of the Amazon and adds additional damage, it is a highly recommended skill.

Skill Performed:
N/A

Skill Points Needed:

  • Lvl 1 – 2
  • Lvl 2 – 3
  • Lvl 3 – 4

Lunatic
Lunatic is a risky skill that sacrifices HP to get into the Berserk state. While it may seem like a bargain worth looking into, it really isn’t, because the amount of HP that it takes away is ridiculous. Thus, it is best to avoid this skill and get into Berserk mode the old-fashioned way.

Skill Performed:

  • Lvl 3 – 3

Amazon Builds

Now that we have the skills covered, it’s time to look at how some of them can be combined together to make a build for the Amazon character. Builds differ from each other in-terms of playstyle, so it is important to understand what you’re doing to suit with how you play. Note that Common Skills aren’t covered in the sample builds

Below are sample builds of the Amazon, described in detail:

Build #1 – The Punisher

Skills:

  • Deadly Revolution – Maxed level
  • Punisher – Maxed level
  • Berserk – Maxed level
  • War Paint – Highly leveled
  • Brandish – Maxed level/ Highly leveled
  • Parry – Partially leveled

Boy, is the Amazon ruthless or what? It’s difficult to say which skill is the build’s core skill. Maybe it’s Deadly Revolution and Punisher, but then again, Brandish is just so badass. The Amazon is an all-out attacking character, so you won’t expect much from her other than crazy swings and tons of damage.

That’s why we take all the offensive abilities that we can, without damaging the idea of being so, so scary to enemies. As an Amazon player you probably like to swing a lot, and that’s why Deadly Revolution and Brandish work so well. Your Berserk mode is obviously your best friend, so you need to ensure that you have lots of momentum, which really shouldn’t be a difficult thing as long as you utilize the other skills.

Parry is excellent if you can pull it off at the correct time, and you can then release your godly annihilation powers with a few seconds of invincibility. In my mind there is no better way to play an unforgiving Amazon than this.
