Pikmin 3 Boss Strategy

Armored Mawdad
The Armored Mawdad is located in the Garden of Hope and appears during the 3rd day. The total time limit to defeat this boss is eight minutes with Red Pikmin and Rock Pikmin at your disposal.

The Armored Mawdad uses its large nippers to get control of the victim and then kills it. Moreover, this creature is quite agile so make sure to keep your distance.

Note: In order to get Platinum rank, you must defeat it under 01:30 minutes.

Strategy: From the very start of the battle, you will have Rock Pikmin and Red Pikmin with you. Throw your Rock Pikmin at the tail of this creature and then call your Red Pikmin but keep them at a distance.

Keep attacking its tail with Rock Pikmin and when the tail begins to shatter, call in your Red Pikmin and begin attacking it. However, make sure to hurry as you don’t want to give it a chance to attack you.

Vehemoth Phosbat
Vehemoth Phosbat is located in Distant Tundra and appears during the 5th day. The total time provided to defeat this boss is fifteen minutes with Yellow Pikmin, Red Pikmin and Rock Pikmin at your disposal.

The basic attack of this boss is to fly in the air and then attacking the victims by breathing them in. You should also keep in mind that Vehemoth Phosbat can attack its victims without being noticed.

Note: In order to get Platinum rank, you must defeat it under 02:30 minutes.

Strategy: The biggest weakness of this boss is light so just as the battle starts, throw around 20 Yellow Pikmin on the large Electrode and then assemble all your Pikmin and launch an attack.

Use your Yellow Pikmin when the Phosbat launches into the air and charge with all your Pikmin when it comes back. Also make sure to keep a safe distance from its mouth! Keep on repeating this until you defeat it.

Sandbelching Meerslug
Sandbelching is located in the Tropical Wilds and appears during the 8th day. The total time limit allotted to you is thirteen minutes and you have Red Pikmin, Yellow Pikmin and Rock Pikmin in your squad.

This boss has only two basic attacks: first, it tunnels into the sand and creates a large pit in which your Pikmin are trapped until it eats them and the second one is attacking its victims by spewing out heavy projectiles.

Note: In order to get the Platinum rank, you must defeat this boss under 02:30 minutes.

Strategy: From the very beginning of the mission, you will have a fairly large number of Pikmin with you. Just settle up your squad and wait for the Meerslug to launch its first attack.

If it comes out of the sand, charge on it with every Pikmin in your squad and keep attacking it. However, if it creates a pit then your best bet is to keep a safe distance until it comes out of it and then attack it.

A successful attack on the Meerslug will always disable it for a while, giving you enough room to explore the area for some Bomb Rocks. There will be two Bomb Rocks in the plain site but seven more can be found in the Dirt Mounds.

When it recovers, do the same process all over again and make it invalid once more giving yourself some time to look for the Bomb Rocks. Once you have gathered at least five Bomb Rocks, throw them all at its mouth once it creates a pit to cause a blast and defeat it!

Scornet Maestro
The Scornet Maestro is located in the Twilight River and appears during the 13th day. The total time allotted to you to defeat this boss is ten minutes with Red Pikmin, Rock Pikmin and Winged Pikmin. Just as the name suggests, Scornet Maestro attacks by controlling a horde of Scornets.

Note: In order to get the Platinum rank, you must complete this battle under 02:30 minutes.

Strategy: The only thing you should be concerned about while encountering this boss is the Scornets. When the Scornets are in the area, you should forget about attacking for a while and concentrate on keeping your distance.

You should only attack once the Scornets fly away leaving the defenseless Maestro on the ground. Keep on repeating this process until you defeat it.

Quaggled Mireclops
Quaggled Mireclops is located in the Garden of Hope and appears on 16th day. You will have to throw a Rock Pikmin at its Mireclops Crystal in order to awaken this creature. The total time given to you is fifteen minutes with Rock Pikmin, Red Pikmin and Blue Pikmin in your squad.

The Mireclops will tromp the ground after waking up creating pool of water in the mud.

Note: In order to get the Platinum rank, you must defeat it under 02:30 minutes.

Strategy: Throw your Blue Pikmin at Mireclops’ feet and when it crumbles throw your Rock Pikmin at Mireclops crystal to expose its medulla. When taken enough damage, it will sweep its tongue.

When it does so, make sure to keep a safe distance. Once it stops doing that, use your Blue Pikmin to attack its feet and then use your other Pikmin to charge it. Keep on repeating the process until you defeat it!

Plasm Wraith
Plasm Wraith is located in the Formidable Oak and appears on 25th day. The total time allotted to defeat this creature is twelve minutes with Red Pikmin, Yellow Pikmin, Blue Pikmin, Rock Pikmin and Winged Pikmin at your disposal. The boss uses its spiny outgrowth to skewer through its victims along with hazardous plasmas.

Note: In order to get the Platinum rank, you must complete this battle under 04:00 minutes.

Strategy: Every type of Pikmin works great against this boss, so make sure you have plenty of them in your squad before entering the fray. At first, throw Rock Pikmin from a distance to dismantle the figure and then use your other Pikmin to attack the pieces before it rejoins itself.

Rock Pikmin are also resistant to the direct attacks of Plasm Wraith so have plenty of them and spam them. Also make sure to use Winged Pikmin when it flies into the air to bring it down.

Keep on repeating this strategy of using Rock Pikmin to break down the figure and then charging it with all your Pikmin until it is defeated!

Mysterious Life-Form
Before converting into Plasm Wraith, the creature appears as Mysterious Life-Form during 23rd and 24th day. This sluggish creature has a transparent body and can absorb anything thrown at it.

Strategy: This is a pretty much easy boss to kill. Just make sure to keep your distance when it is in its transparent state. It will soon turn into a golden opaque object and when it does so, charge it with all the Pikmin available to you to defeat it.
