Microsoft has announced that users playing the same game on both the current generation and the next generation console will be able to win two separate sets of achievements for the same game on each console.
In an interview with IGN, Marc Whitten, Chief Xbox One Platform Architect was asked whether you can earn two separate sets of achievements for the same game. Whitten thereon confirmed that separate Game scores will be won for the same game for each of the console i.e. Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Every game has its own set of achievements, so if you’re playing Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox 360 and on Xbox One, you can earn a separate set of Gamerscore in each game, says Whitten.
Of course that doesn’t mean all the perks are the same for instance Xbox One lets you see the how you ladder up the achievements as well as allows you to earn “real prizes inside and outside of the game” not to forget exclusive challenges to earn goals and rewards in a given time bracket.
Previously Major Nelson covered the achievements in great detail stating that the challenges and achievements will officially be considered Xbox Live Achievements though there will be some differences: challenges will be time based and will not give out any game score, the developers can adjust challenges such that they can go across titles – something that achievements don’t do and lastly, the community will be able to unlock more of them.
Major Nelson also stated that this time around, special attention is being given to achievements so that they will be more powerful and flexible in order to allow developers to play around and make them more complex yet interesting.
Looking at how the release date has not been conveyed yet and with all the insights being made available to the public one can sense the anticipation rising each day.
Which of the launch titles are you looking forward to jump on and muster all that the Xbox Live Achievements System has to offer?
