The somewhat eagerly anticipated Dragon’s Crown is finally almost here, as Vanillaware release a new trailer showcasing the game in all its glory. You can watch it above.
The trailer gives us a small look at each of the classes; the Wizard, the Sorceress, the Fighter, the Amazon, the Dwarf and the Elf. It also shows the game’s four player co-op, and highlights some of the gameplay features such as the skill progression system, numerous traps as you traverse the levels and the ability to revive fallen warriors to assist you in combat.
The boss fights look pretty awesome as well. We get to see at least one dragon, and a huge beast with three different heads (one of a lion, one of a goat and one that looks like a snake). There also appear to be unlockables in the form of bonus artworks.
Vanillaware is known for embracing 2D in largely 3D dominated industry, their distinctive art style is unique and has garnered the company many fans. Dragon’s Crown is no exception, featuring larger-than-life characters (you know what I’m talking about!) and a dark, yet colorful theme.
The game is being published by Atlus, a publisher and developer known for games such as the Shin Megami Tensei series of RPGs. It was originally being published by UTV Ignition Entertainment however, the company was dropped from the project and Atlus took over.
Dragon’s Crown hits PlayStation 3 and PS Vita on August 6 in North America, with a European release planned for some time later this year.
