I have to give Microsoft credit for what they are doing for indie community which is an integral part of gaming industry.
According to The Pin Arcade developer, FarSight Studios, video game developers will now be able to self-publish their Xbox Live Arcade titles on Xbox 360 without the need of going to any third-party publisher. This campaign is scheduled to initiate in later summer, this year.
This follows the news of self-publishing on Xbox One. You can read more about it, here.
FarSight Studios mentioned this in a newsletter, addressing their own issues regarding publishing their game, The Pin Arcade through Xbox Live.
The newsletter also hinted on Xbox One’s version of The Pin Arcade in future. The newsletter reads,
Microsoft has just announced that indie developers (like FarSight) can now self-publish on Xbox Live Arcade instead of being required to find publishers for their games. This means we can bring The Pinball Arcade back to the 360 ourselves, and also opens the door to an Xbox One version of The Pinball Arcade in the future!
Earlier we heard that The Pin Arcade was cancelled from Xbox Live Arcade as its original publisher, Crave Entertainment, went bankrupt and Microsoft had to annul their license.
According to FarSight Studios, Microsoft plans on starting this project in later August. And Microsoft itself announced earlier this week that they will further reveal their self-publishing plans at Gamescom which is slated to happen from 21st of August to 25th.
It has been affirmed with FarSight Studios that all the information provided in the newsletter is correct and now we are waiting from an official word from Microsoft.
