Spotted and shared by a certain member of the NeoGAF forums (NR1), this Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD sale seems like a pretty sweet deal, considering the rarity of sales on Nintendo games like Mario and Zelda. Apparently the forum goer attended an E3 demo event at Best buy and saw the posters there for Wind Waker were listed at $59.99, and since that was an official Nintendo event that must have been the official price.
Knowing that, the amazon listing of $49.99 saves you a full ten dollars. It’s up to you to decide whether you think the HD remake is worth the price tag (personally I think it should be at 40 dollars, $50 is still just a little too much).
The remake offers a bit more than most others (which are really just remasters). The game is now in true HD, able to support resolutions of up to 1080p. It also has redone art assets and textures, and the interface, design and controls are all reported to be completely revamped.
You can also make use of the Wii U gamepad to manage your inventory and view maps on the fly. Lastly, there’s also some small interaction with the Miiverse, in that you can occasionally find a ‘message in a bottle’ every now and then that comes from other players.
In The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Link traverses a series of islands in an effort to defeat Ganondorf and find the Triforce, while simultaneously searching for his lost little sister Aryll. It features a unique cell-shaded art style that has set it apart from other LoZ titles. Canonically it is said to take place several centuries after the events of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
The HD version is set to release in October of 2013.
