The Wii U has had a bit of a lacking lineup when it comes to AAA titles (and I’m not referring to the franchises that Nintendo owns and regurgitates every year or so). Well it seems that Activision’s upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts will be arriving on that particular platform alongside its PC, Xbox and PS3 launch.
It's official…we're working to bring #CODGhosts to the WiiU on Nov. 5!

The news comes via the official Treyarch twitter page, and you wouldn’t be wrong in being a bit confused. Ghosts was developed by Infinity Ward, so why is Treyarch announcing this?
The answer lies in the fact that Treyarch is the studio that is creating the Wii U version of the game. In fact Treyarch has always built the Nintendo versions of the titles.
I hope this works out because the Wii U really needs to gain some traction. Since its launch last November, they’ve really suffered from a serious shortage of games, and getting a hardcore AAA shooter of Call of Duty’s pedigree would really be a big boost.
Activision also confirmed several more family friendly titles for the Wii U including Skylanders SWAP Force, Angry Birds Trilogy, Angry Birds Star Wars, a Spongebob SquarePants game, and Wipeout Create & Crash.
Activision wouldn’t say how Ghosts might fully utilize the Wii U hardware, but did mention that it would use both the Wii-mote and the Gamepad. From that we might deduce some funky control functions but I’m willing to keep an open mind.
Call of Duty: Ghosts releases November 5, 2013 for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U. PS4 and Xbox One dates have not been announced.
