“Please release GTA V on PC,” reads the first sentence of a petition that has been put up on change.org. Probably the largest game so far and the most anticipated one as well; Grand Theft Auto 5 is currently slated for a console only release, to the dismay of some 200,000 (and counting) fans.
GTA 5 will be coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 this spring but so far the PC community was ignored just like the previous time when the PC version of GTA 4 was released seven months after the 2008 release to the consoles.
At this time the petition has gained 213,515 supporters shooting up from 100,000 in November last year and a 150,000 in February reports Gamespot. Naturally we are expecting the figures to hike up another notch as the release dates draw nearer.
Though that is not all, also in November last year Dan Houser the Co-founder of Rockstar Games had been interviewed by IGN where he had clarified that despite a PS3-Xbox 360 release being announced, all other platforms were under consideration as well. When asked about PC, Wii U and so on, Houser was quick to retaliate:
“We are a third-party publisher. We’re not Nintendo, we’re not Sony, we’re not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there’s the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market.”
So yes, fingers crossed for a successful petition because just as the text reads on it:
“GTA games have been a large part of so many people’s lives and it’s a big shame not seeing the newest iteration of the game being released on the most powerful platform. Things like modifications have always been a HUGE part of PC gaming and modded GTA is some of the most insanely fun times you can have. I hope you consider the release of GTA V on PC as it’ll make many people very happy!”
The last part is what I can guarantee, it will surely make a lot of people happy, and would you be one of them if GTA 5 is announced for PC soon?
