Marketing consultancy Surprise Attack has emerged out as Australia’s first independent game publisher known as Surprise Attack Games. Being an individual publisher, Surprise Attack will collaborate with Australian developers & offer them distribution & other marketing services both locally & internationally.
It has been promised that the publisher will accept games on all platforms: whether it be handheld, mobile, consoles, browser-based, Mac, Linux, Microsoft Windows or tablets.
Surprise Attack Games’ founder & managing director – Chris Wright – stated the mission statement behind the company as:
“Our vision for Surprise Attack Games is to build a new kind of publisher, inspired by the indie record labels I loved growing up in the ’80s and ’90s.”
He further added that those companies were an integral part of creative local community & helped them achieve their goals.
“Those labels weren’t some separate corporate entity that came in at the end to handle the commercial stuff; they were an integral part of their local creative communities, and they helped lift up those communities as a result.”
Surprise Attack Games will kick-start with three Australian games, namely; Particulars, Wolfdozer, & Burden.
All three titles will be displayed at Surprise Attack Games’ booth at Penny Arcade Expo – PAX – in Australia.
PAX Australia is scheduled to take place from 19th of July to 21st of July at Melbourne Showgrounds. To know more about PAX, don’t forget to visit their official website.
