If there’s one thing we know about the Call of Duty franchise, it’s that it will never die. Ever.
Year after year the franchise comes back from the pit of pop culture to release yet another assault-weapon filled thrill ride. While it appeared Modern Warfare was down for the count in favor of Infinity Ward’s new Ghosts franchise, we all may’ve spoken too soon.
Sledgehammer games was recently revealed to be developing its own project, which speculation points to as a new entry in the Modern Warfare franchise. Sledgehammer Games previously co-developed Modern Warfare 3 with Infinity Ward, so it knows its way around a slow-motion end-game scene or two.
The rumor stems from a LinkedIn profile of SledgeHammer Games Senior VFX Artist Rob Valdivia which hinted at its project being a new Modern Warfare. Spotted by “playst4tion,” the profile states Valdivia is “responsible for developing photo real visual effects for the next Call of Duty – Modern Warfare release.
So, to sum up, there’s a (possibly) another Call of Duty title blitzkrieging its way through development and will feature the greatest graphics buzzword of all time – photorealistic visuals.
