Singaporean contestant Ho Kun Xian, known by his handle “DM Mad Catz Xian,” took first place in the Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition tournament at the Evolution Championship Series 2013.

Playing as Gen, DM rocked the Paris Las Vegas Hotel in a match against Japan’s top Akuma player, Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi, who was one out of eight finalists: Eduardo “EG PR Balrog,” Perez-Frangie, Lee “Infiltration” Seon-woo, Sako “HORI Sako” Naoto, Bruce “AVM GamerBee” Hsiang, Tatsuya “Haitani” Haitani, and Daigo Umehara.

DM also took first place in the SSFIV: AE tourney at the Community Effort Orlando 2013 effort last month, which was marred by a contestant’s alleged assault on a fellow competitive gamer and ex-girlfriend.

The victory of Job “FS EMP Clocker” Figueroa in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 against Justin Wong in the top eight winners bracket was a particular notable victory which saw Wong placed on an epic crowd-chanting comeback through the loser’s bracket.

Other wins include Philip “VxG.EMP KDZ” Atkinson who proved victorious in Injustice: Gods Among Us and Joseph “Mango” Marquez who was the winner of the Super Smash Bros. Melee tourney.
