Following a charge of murder on June 26, the now ex-Patriot member Aaron Hernandez will be removed from Madden 25 and NCAA 14, EA Sports announced today.
Hernandez was arrested for the death of Odin Lloyd a couple of weeks back and is currently waiting trial. However, since the player was released from the Patriots as well; EA Sports might not have found any reason to have him linger on in the game.
“We have made a decision to remove Aaron Hernandez from Madden NFL 25 and NCAA Football 14,” EA said in a statement.
“Because NCAA Football 14 was finalized prior to our decision, Hernandez’ image still appears in the Nike Skills Trainer,” EA continued. “However, he is not in the game, and anyone who unlocks that particular Nike Skills Trainer reward will receive an Alex Smith Ultimate Team player item instead. The image of Hernandez will be removed via a Title Update in the near future.”
NCAA 14 will release on Tuesday next week while Madden 25 will be released on August 27.
