Saints Row IV now in the Australian Steam Store

Saints Row 4
Last week Saints Row IV was refused a rating by the Australian Classification Board, keeping it off the shelves. This week, a new “low violence” Saints Row IV appeared in Australia’s Steam store.

Deep Silver previously said it would release an acceptable version for Australian release but it did not provide the specific changes made to the lowered violence in the game.

After being refused Australia’s R18+ rating, the ratings board cited an “alien anal probe” and drug use as reasons for non-acceptance. (Ah, video games.)

The Australian Classification Board’s acting director, Donald McDonald, wrote in a statement, “Saints Row IV, includes interactive, visual depictions of implied sexual violence which are not justified by context.

In addition, the game includes elements of illicit or proscribed drug use related to incentives or rewards. Such depictions are prohibited by the computer games guidelines.”

It’s hard to take video games seriously when they’re running around with alien anal probes and doing drugs, isn’t it?
