Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist has received a new video walkthrough of its multiplayer mode Spies vs Mercs, courtesy of Ubisoft.
The classic mode pits four players against each in the form of teams of two. One side are the Spies who are played from a third-person’s perspective. These are skilled in computer hacking and use stealth as a means of cover. The other side takes on the role of Mercs in first-person and are armed to the teeth.
The objective is simple, the Mercs need to gun down the Spies before they can complete tasks assigned to them.
The Spies vs Mercs multiplayer mode is not something new. It was first introduced in Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow that was released in 2004. The gameplay was similar but featured four vs four instead of teams of two. The mode was then scrapepd from 2010’s Conviction and is now brought back solely on the basis of demand made by fans.
“It was the number one feature requested after Conviction, so we had to do it,” said producer Sébastien Ebacher in a recent interview with Polygon.
Splinter Cell: Blacklist is due for release in North America on August 20, with European and Australian launches in the following days.
