A playable demo of Gran Turismo 6 will be released on the PlayStation Network on July 2 at 9:00 am BST, Sony announced today on the PlayStation Blog.
The demo will be free and not require players to own any previous Gran Turismo title. Sony promises that it will prove to be a “tantalizing glimpse at what we will see when the game takes to the starting grid later this year”.
According to Sony, the demo is structured as a GT Academy-style driver training concept where players progressively learn the skills required to push for faster lap times.
With the launch of the demo, Sony will also commence the 2013 GT Academy competition, which could end up awarding a chance of a real life racing career with Nissan. The academy will remain open until 11:59 pm BST on July 28th, while the demo itself will remain live until August 31.
The announcement of a playable demo comes shortly after the confirmation of a Gran Turismo 6 Anniversary Edition to release later this year; which will be packed with extra content to celebrate 15 years of the iconic racing franchise. Pre-order details were revealed as well which grants players access to bonus cars.
