The Bureau: XCOM Declassified to Feature Story-Driven DLC Packs, First One is Xbox 360 Exclusive
In a press release today, publisher 2K Games announced new story-driven DLC packs for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified which releases on August 20 in North America and August 23 internationally.
Morgan Gray, development director at 2K Games confirmed the first DLC pack to be exclusive to the Xbox 360.
“The alternate 1962 universe that we’ve created for The Bureau is vast and there are many more stories to tell about the early days of XCOM,” he said in a statement. “We’re excited that our stories will provide a new perspective on the war effort, much like how our critically acclaimed Minvera’s Den DLC for BioShock 2 allowed us to present a unique perspective of Rapture.”
Additionally Gray revealed pre-order bonuses as well which will be available through “participating retailers” only. Confirming a copy right now will give you access to Codebreakers, an exclusive side-mission which tasks players to bring a government communications facility back online, eliminate any threats, and decrypt a mysterious code.
GameStop though will also be offering the Light Plasma Pistol with every pre-order, which features an improved rate of fire.
More information regarding the game will be given soon.
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified was initially announced during E3 2010 and since then went into development hell. The game was finally decided to be transfomred from a first-person shooter into a tactical TPS.
The game will take place in the year of 1962. US government has made a secret organization to defend against Russia, if they launch a nuclear war on the US. However, instead of Russians, it is the aliens that invade the country.
The job of that secret organization aka ‘The Bureau’ is to fight against this new unexpected enemy. Furthermore, they must do their job secretly in order not to cause hysteria among the population.
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified will be available this August for $59.99 on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
