The absence of Lightning from the Final Fantasy 13-2 must have been noticed by quite a few but that is bound to change with her return in the upcoming version of Final Fantasy as the only playable character.
Confirmed to release on 11th February 2014 in America and on Valentine’s Day in Europe, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 will be time-bound. It is set in a time where the world is on the verge of destruction in lieu of the awakening of the ancient god Bhunivelze.
Lightning must fight alone, with the clock ticking closer to the thirteen day deadline; you will be in the midst of sped up chain of events. You will be able to add time to your clock by doing certain things like saving lives but in the end, it is all about getting the job done before it is all over.
Though the gameplay is similar to previous versions, it gives off a heightened sense of urgency even in the battles. All along you will be trailing Snow for unconfirmed reasons – another character that is to return according to the E3 trailer released by Square Enix.
New features in the game include multiple Schemas that allow the character to behave in a certain role out of a variety of options – a replacement to the Paradigms of the previous version.
Additionally, players can now keep attacking the enemy with back to back spells until their ATB meter is completely depleted. Thereon you can immediately switch to the next Schema and continue with your assault, for example, Thunder in the Divinity Schema or Light Slash/Heavy Slash in the Dark Muse, which will be easier to access using the face buttons.
All the multiple Schema offenses are attached to a different set of costume that Lightning changes. And it will be better off for you if you use them to attack the enemies before they attack you since they come for you whenever they see you. You can see the enemies on the map so attacking first might give you an element of surprise over them.
We will have to wait for the next year to fully examine Lightning’s new handiness though. Don’t forget to share your thoughts on the new changes in the comments below!
