“It’s about time” says Allen Murray the Senior Producer for Plants vs. Zombies 2. As reported by us last month PopCap Games had confirmed July to be the release date for the zombie addiction. Now that the countdown has actually begun, the publisher has finally announced the official date. The largely awaited tower defense game will be releasing on the entire iOS platform on the 18th of July.
However the release on other platforms including the ones it as available on previously i.e. PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Mac and Android devices is bound to follow somewhere in the future.
The basic game play involved protecting your homes from zombies who come lurking at you from everywhere. Users would set up their defense line using plants like Cherry Bomb, Peashooter and Chomper that would have special abilities like firing potatoes on the zombies.
Luckily the game will be free to download proving the users access to all new levels, plants and zombies in multiple different worlds. Two of the new levels leaked through screenshots are relating to ancient Egypt and a pirate ship though there will be more. While as an improvement to the interaction level now players will be able to interact with the zombie directly too owing to the new touch screen power-ups.
Though the game itself is free but some of the upgrades to plants and weapons will be sold for a price through a shop inside the game run by a Crazy Dave. These additions were previously free and users only needed certain game related objectives to get them. The newer mechanics of the game will certainly keep players on the edge for quite a while!
