Lionhead Studios has officially confirmed Fable Anniversary, a remake of the original Fable title, which will release for the Xbox 360 later this year.
The confirmation comes following a teaser video released earlier, which featured various tweets from the community asking for a remake of the popular role-playing game.
“We’re really excited to be bringing a remastered version of Fable: The Lost Chapters to the Xbox 360,” said lead designer Ted Timmins on Lionhead’s website. “It’s been one of the biggest community requests as we know how much the fans love the original game.”
Fable: The Lost Chapters is an expanded edition to the original Fable, which was released a year after in 2005 for both the Xbox and PC.
According to Timmins Fable Anniversary will see to a “complete HD graphical overhaul” of the original title. The remake is powered by the new Unreal Engine 3 which allows the developers to take into account powerful lighting and animation systems for faces and cut scenes.
Every aspect of the game is being touched upon. The interface and controls are being looked over. The save system is being replaced with a checkpoint one and the game will be released with support for SmartGlass integration. The second screen will provide an in-game map and will have the ability to take screenshots.
Timmins also confirmed that Fable Anniversary will offer Achievements, which was not present on the Xbox.
Fable Anniversary will release exclusively for the Xbox 360 this holiday season.
