Relic Entertainment has announced Company of Heroes 2 to enter open beta later today and will run until June 18, a week before the official release.
The beta will require Steam to run and will feature six maps for multiplayer and skirmish gameplay. Players will also get access to the first 40 levels of progression, and the ability to customize their loadouts to suit their play-style using the all new Army Customizer.
However, players shouldn’t worry about losing their progress. Participants of the beta will have their progression and unlocks carried over when the full game launches officially. All players have to do is to make sure they purchase the game within the first 60 days of the launch and play on Steam with the same account.
“We have been working hard since the closed beta balancing and improving all areas of the game as well as adding new matchmaking servers,” producer Greg Wilson said in a statement. “COH2 has had one of the most successful beta programs we’ve ever run at Relic and the support of the fans has been a critical factor in making the game more balanced and stable for launch.”
Sega has confirmed that Company of Heroes 2 will officially launch on June 25 simultaneously in both North America and Europe exclusively for the PC.
The publisher recently acquired the game from auctioning of THQ’s assets, which followed their announcement of bankruptcy last year. The package also came with the game’s developer, Relic Entertainment who is also responsible for development of the original Company of Heroes title and Warhammer: Dawn of War series.
