As we all know that Tripwire promised new content based on Red Orchestra 2: Rise of Stalingrad either in the form of a free mode or a stand-alone version. Well, since they opted to go with the latter option, we have Rising Storm – A stand-alone pack based on RO2.
It’s not a DLC or minor update, Rising Storm will not totally be free. Unless you buy it, you will only be able to play as a rifleman on its maps. If that’s good enough for you, there is no need to pay.
Rising Storm owners should keep in mind that the map rotation for both RO2 and RS will be in the same cycle, and they will automatically load one by one as set by the admins.
The single player content, however, has been split into RO2 application so you can play it from there. Now, although the new expansion integrates well into the game, there can be some minor issues (bugs, errors, crashes) spoiling the fun.
If you are a victim and are unable to run the game properly, refer to the following troubleshooting guide.
#1 Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm – Punkbuster Issue
If the server is kicking you out on the regular basis, there is something wrong with your punkbuster. First, you should reinstalling punkbuster from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Red Orchestra 2\Binaries\Windows.
If that doesn’t work, you can go to EvenBalance website and install it from there.
#2 Red Orchestra 2 /Rising Storm – Weapon Stats Reset
It’s not a bug, the beta stats would not carry over to the full version. It was made clear before the launch.
#3 Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm – Sound Issue Fix
The developer is aware of the weird sound bug and they are working on a quick fix. For the time being, you should restart the game every time the sound starts going wrong.
#4 Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm – Game Won’t Launch Fix
If you had the beta, there is a possibility that you might not have been able to launch the game after the update. If that’s the case, you should follow these simple steps to fix it:
- Open your old INI directory Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3 and delete the ROGame folder there.
- Now, open the Documents\My Games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Config folder, and delete the files there as well.
- This time, open C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\redorchestra2beta\ROG ame\Config and delete all the files.
- Finally, go back into Steam, right click on the Red Orchestra 2 beta game and Verify the game cache. Steam will then download a few new files and you will be good to play the game.

The issue is known to the developer and they are working on a fix. If you can’t wait that much, this work around can solve the issue for you.
#6 Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm – Buggy Buttons after the update
If you are experiencing UI issues like buggy buttons then make sure that if you have any mods installed, they are updated too to run fine with Rising Storm. Some users have also reported that restarting the game fixed the issue for them.

It’s not a reproducible bug so i will recommend that you restart your game and wait for the next update to fix it automatically.
#8 Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm – Single Player Stutter Fix
Even with stable FPS, if you are experiencing occasional jitter, you should try the following:
