AMD’s “Custom Silicon Solution” for Xbox One Costs Over $3 Billion
An ex-employee has spilled the beans regarding a multi-year deal made between Microsoft and AMD.
Bob Felstein, who is a former AMD vice president of Strategic Development posted on his LinkedIn profile that the deal between the two firms costs over $3 billion. He also added that AMD provided a “custom silicon solution” to Microsoft for the Xbox One.
Pretty honorable of him to reveal company secrets after switching jobs. He currently works at Nvidia as their vice president of Technology Licensing. I wonder how this leak will effect his appearance on Nvidia.
Yusuf Mehdi from Microsoft recently claimed that next-gen consoles could very well achieve 1 billion in sales. Xbox One is slated for launch later this year and will boast a 500GB hard drive, 8GB of RAM, a Blu-ray, 64-bit architecture, Wi-Fi, USB 3.0, and is said to be “nearly silent”.
