Mojang wasn’t planning on sticking with their hugely popular Minecraft title forever. The developer had a few teams working on other projects as well and one of them, called Scrolls, is releasing in open beta next week.
Scrolls features digital card battles where two players face off against each other on a grid and summoning characters and weapons to attain victory.
The game will not be free-to-play and starting June 3 will be available for $20 on the PC and Mac. Similar to Minecraft, the developer will continuously improve Scrolls; while those who buy the game now for $20 will receive all future updates for free.
Digital card battle games are not uncommon these days. Blizzard recently announced theirs called Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft at PAX East. They though are going with a free-to-play model. Look for it on the PC and Mac this summer.
