Electronic Arts’ Chief Technology Officer, Rajat Teneja, recently wrote a post on LinkedIn according to which he believes that the next-gen consoles that include Xbox One and Playstation 4 are ahead of the best PCs available in market today.
What he wrote was, “These architectures are a generation ahead of the highest end PC on the market.” Another thing worth mentioning here is Teneja stating that Electronic Arts handles around 50TB telemetry data on their network on daily basis. And the commitment of next generation of consoles to cloud storage will come in handy in future and will allow this side of gaming to groom more swiftly.
He further added that with Playstation 4 and Xbox One in market, players will now see more and more examples of games running on cross-platforms. He quoted Sony Playstation 4’s cloud storage technology that would enable players to play high-end consoles games on a handheld device such as Playstation Vita. According to him, the Playstation 4 and Xbox One has caused players to shift their games from a console in their living room to a PC, mobile phone or a handheld device enabling them to experience games of their choice anywhere.
To quote him exactly, “The architecture of both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 present more opportunities to take your game from TV to smartphone to PC, with seamless ubiquity and experience gaming at any time, in any way on any device.”
