Dead Island Riptide John Morgan Skill Tree Builds Guide

Dead Island Riptide John Morgan
The new character in Dead Island Riptide is John Morgan, and apparently he’s no stranger to slaying zombies or anything else that gets on his nerves.

So what exactly is John? Well the fellow sits in between Sam B and Logan. But that’s Xian Mei’s job you say? Yeah, it is, but unlike Xian, Morgan’s the tankiest character of the game, and he’s much, much slower than Xian, and also a little less offensive.

This makes Morgan the primary tank, replacing Sam B who can be the secondary tank. His stats themselves tell the story:

Expertise: Hand-to-Hand Combat

Stats:
Health – 120
Speed – 90
Stamina – 100

So, you want to get up close and show them zombies what your fists are made out of. As John Morgan, you’ll want to go straight through your Fury and Combat, while only grabbing a couple of essential Survival skills. The rest of the survival skills suck, and are terrible investments over.

Start off with the Fury tree, as Morgan’s fury is really powerful, and dishes a lot of damage. Remember, he’s the slower of the characters, so it’s important to balance things out with increased damage and durability.

Get Touch of Power first thing, then move on to the Combat tree. Palm Strike is a mandatory to unlock the rest, so take it. The other skills down from here are pretty awesome.

You will be going hand-to-hand with Morgan, so Cardio is a must-have. While Life Drain seems attractive, the stupidly low percentages are pathetic; you have a 3/100 chance that your attacks will grant back some life. Frenzy is awesome, and it’s hard to ignore, so take it.

If you are using hand-to-hand weapons (which you should be) like claws etcetera, then you would want to invest in Puncher as well. However, I would recommend that for later. Now, take Big Boot, and then move on to the Survival.

There isn’t much in this tree, but you would want to get your hand on the first to Health and Stamina Buffs. For that, the best tier 2 option seems to be One-Handed Durability for those small melee weapons.

Once you have Health and Stamina Buff 2, I would suggest completing Combat with the two Upper Cut Attack Upgrades, and then eventually Kiss of the Dragon.

Now, it’s time to get to the Fury tree, which is probably the best tree for Morgan. Infinite Rage is absolutely brilliant, and wins over Lightning Moves. Yeah, it’s fun to be fast, but IR seems to be a better option for now. If you want, you can invest remaining points in Lightning Moves.

Burning Fists is a no-brainer because of its rage as well, and after you have Touch of Destruction, take Go Green. I actually like Long Hands, because like Logan’s fury, you can actually hit multiple enemies at once.

But the best ability ever is Zen Time. This bad boy will give you full health after fury ends. Considering the increased amount of rage you’re getting from Infinite Rage and Burning Fists, you’ll be using your fury a lot, and as a result you’ll be replenishing health a lot too.

Invest any remaining points wherever you feel is necessary (I would still opt for the Combat and Fury trees though).

Enjoy!
