The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Coming In August, Details Inside
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified has finally been revealed. Announced way back in 2010 at E3, the game has gone through development hell. However, all that is in the past as 2K announced today that the game will arrive on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in August this year.
First announced as a FPS, the game has transformed itself into a tactical TPS since then.
The game will take place in the year of 1962. US government has made a secret organization to defend against Russia, if they launch a nuclear war on the US. However, instead of Russians, it is the aliens that invade the country.
The job of that secret organization aka ‘The Bureau’ is to fight against this new unexpected enemy. Furthermore, they must do their job secretly in order not to cause hysteria among the population.
The main character in the game will be of agent William Carter. He is the type of officer who gets the job done, no matter what the cost.
William Carter will be responsible for the actions of a certain squad. The developers heavily stressed on the tactical part of the game. According to them, you will need both your ‘brains and bullets to win.’
With your squad, you will be able to do several things. You can order them to flank foes, perform leap frog procedures, provide cover and fire, and prioritize targets within their squad. Furthermore, they will also have special powers which they can unleash given you have unlocked them by earning enough experience points.
You seriously need to think about your actions on the battlefield. Think carefully because on your orders depends the lives of your squad mates. If one of your squad mates dies during battle, then they are gone for good.
You will need to play the rest of the game without their services. The game’s story will progress without them. Keep in mind that no one likes a captain who regularly loses his soldiers. In other words, there will be severe consequences of your actions.
Lastly, the developers also confirmed that the game will be solely a single player game. No multiplayer is involved in this game. Somewhat refreshing in this day and age, if you ask me.
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified will arrive on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC sometime in August this year.
