If anyone recalls, a certain Final Fantasy Versus XIII was announced by Square Enix back in May 2006. It has been more than six years now, and the publisher still refuses to shed light on any new development.
Don’t get me wrong, a few announcements did follow the years, but it wasn’t long before people started believing that the project was scrapped.
The last time publisher Square talked about the game was back in July 2012, when CEO Yoichi Wad took to Twitter to deny rumors of Versus XIII’s cancellation. He claimed that he has just attended a meeting for the game, and the city’s visuals look damn impressive.
Now speaking on the first episode of Square Enix Merchandise Radio, Director Tetsuya Nomura was asked about the fate of Final Fantasy Versus XIII. He replied, “It’s a delicate situation within the company.”
Nomura then added that “perhaps the details as to why information couldn’t be released might be touched upon with the next information announcement.”
So there you have it. Some new information is heading our way in the coming days, and we’ll know why Square Enix has been so hush-hush about the game.
