Seven new Pokemon Rumble figurines compatible with Wii U’s near-field communication feature will be released one month after the game launches on Nintendo’s latest console, The Pokémon Company announced today.
The latest figures include Croagunk, Eevee, Genesect, Litwick, Mewtwo, Zoroark and a mysterious ‘rare’ Pokemon. Starting May 25th, players in Japan will be able to get their hands on each one of these and increase their private Pokemon collection.
Launch figurines for the game have already been announced by the Pokémon Company to include Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Piplup, Lucario, Torchic, Victini and a rare one which will be available in limited quantities.
Each Pokemon will come with its own special abilities which players can upgrade by spending in-game coins. The same figures can also be captured in-game for free, but these will be bound to their default ability levels, meaning that players will not be able to upgrade them.
As reported previously by CoroCoro, all of these can be purchased from capsule machines located at Pokemon Centers in Japan for 200 yen or $2 apiece. Nintendo will also be selling a unique case to hold all seven figures and that will cost you an extra 780 yen or $5.
According to Serebii, the latest issue of CoroCoro magazine says additional Pokémon can be unlocked in-game using special passwords and Japanese IC Cards, used to store money for use on public transportation. These cards are to be placed on the GamePad and will unlock a random Pokémon for one-time use.
Pokemon Rumble U will release for the Wii U in Japan on April 24.
