Following many rumors Warner Bros. has finally confirmed that Batman: Arkham Origins does exist and will be the next entry in the popular Arkham franchise.
Unlike the previous two Arkham titles, Origins will be a prequel taking place way before any of their events. The game will focus on Batman’s first-time encounters with eight major villains, names of which are unknown.
Unsettling news is that development of the game has been taken over by an in-house studio of Warner Bros. Rocksteady is out of the picture for this one but assets used by them will be given to the new team to aid their process. This includes Rocksteady’s modified Unreal Engine as well.
Batman: Arkham Origins is confirmed for release on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U. A release date of October 25, 2013 has been suggested. Strangely enough there has been no mention of next-gen consoles.
The game has also been revealed to be the May cover story for Game Informer.
