Full details are now out on Treyarch’s next DLC expansion for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
It seems the leaked DLC details we reported on the other day were in fact 100% true, right down to the release date of April 16.
The new map pack, Uprising, will add four brand new multiplayer maps to the mix as well as a brand new Zombies adventure entitled ‘Mob of the Dead’.
This new DLC pack is described as “the most fan-centric DLC package we’ve ever created” according to the design director, David Vonderhaar. With the three brand new Magma, Encore and Vertigo maps as well as Studio being a re-imagining of the classic Firing Range map, there’s quite a bit of new content coming to Black Ops 2. And that’s not to mention ‘Mob of the Dead’ which is set in an Alcatraz prison map and features all new content for Zombies mode.
Mob of the Dead has previously been thought of as a successor to the Call of the Dead gamemode from the original Black Ops, and it would seem that it might just be that. This new map will feature voice acting talent from Ray Liotta, Chazz Palminteri, Michael Madsen and Joe Pantoliano who will be playing the roles of prohibition-era mobsters breaking out of Alcatraz but are also faced with the task of getting past hordes of zombies.
A new feature called “Purgatory” is also being added that will see any zombies you kill sent on to the afterlife. Yes, I’m confused as well, but I can’t wait to see what will come of that.
Uprising will release in less than two weeks on April 16 for Xbox 360, with other platforms following soon after. The map pack will be available over Xbox Live for 1200 Microsoft Points (Around $15), or it’s free if you purchased the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 season pass already.
