The notorious money-draining developer Zynga is branching out from its social gaming comfort zone and into real-money gambling. Starting today, its partnership with the online-gaming firm Bwin.party will see its first release in the form of ZyngaPlusPoker and ZyngaPlusCasino.
Our long-term vision is to offer our players the next generation of real-money games on multiple platforms in regulated markets worldwide,” said Zynga chief revenue officer Barry Cottle on Zynga’s blog. “We take responsible gaming seriously and are proud to partner with Bwin.party, an industry leader and a reputable company that is fully licensed by a premier regulatory authority.
ZyngaPlusPoker is an online poker room with “a wide variety of games and tournaments with buy-ins at every level.” ZyngaPlusCasino features more than 160 slot and table games, such as blackjack and baccarat, as well as video poker and a FarmVille-themed slot machine.
“This is just the beginning for us and we’re looking forward to seeing what our U.K. players think about ZyngaPlusPoker and ZyngaPlusCasino,” said Cottle.
What do you think? Is Zynga’s foray into real-money gambling a natural extension of its money hungry social games?
