Gamestop has done its own share of research and it expects the PlayStation 4 to do exceptionally well in terms of sales. Gamestop president, Tony Bartel, himself made the observation and reportedly said, according to GamesIndustry International:
“We do believe demand will far outpace supply within the launch window, although we have been given no official numbers by Sony”
However, keep in mind that this is speculation on Gamestop’s own observations, as is clear by the comment. Gamestop holds polls regularly, asking for customers’ opinions. Gamestop reports that 34 percent of the questioned customers planned on buying a PS 4 this year, higher than the numbers for any other hardware.
There might be a change in numbers once the next Xbox makes its presence felt. However, for now, the PS4 seems to be in for a good welcome. Bartel also reported that more than 900,000 users signed up to be notified about news on the PS4 on the Gamestop website.
