Obsidian and inXile Partner Up to Develop Crowd-Funded Unity-Based RPGs
inXile announced yesterday that it will collaborate with Obsidian in the development of each studio’s Unity-based old-school RPGs.
“We are happy to announce that we at inXile and the great guys over at Obsidian have reached an agreement to share tools and technology when it makes sense,” said inXile in a Kickstarter update.
“This will allow both companies to be more cost-effective on these projects, allowing your pledges to go further in terms of creating art, content, gameplay, and game polish. Vive le classic RPG revolution!”
inXile also stated that Torment: Tides of Numenera may rely on pre-rendered backgrounds using 3D rendered characters similar to its Planescape: Torment.
Tides of Numenera is currently undergoing funding through Kickstarter, with over 58,000 backers and over $3 million pledged past its goal of $900,000.
What are your thoughts on the two developers getting together to collaborate? As usual, let us know in the comments!
