Xbox Live: New Wave of Entertainment Apps and Services Announced
Six new entertainment apps are heading to Xbox Live this week, according to a post on Major Nelson’s blog.
Popcornflix – (United States only)
A free movie streaming service which can be used by anyone with a Xbox Live Gold subscription to stream films at no additional cost.
IndieFlix – (United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Ireland)
Features international award-winning independent movies, shorts, documentaries, animation and web series.
Toys ‘R’ Us Movies – (United States only)
Gives access to thousands of family-friendly movies and TV shows for rental and purchase. Users can search for content by either age or characters.
Xbox SmartGlass for Game of Thrones Season 3 – (United States only)
Allows a Windows 8 tablet or iPad to unlock Game of Thrones exclusive content, such as interactive maps, detailed character guides, cast and crew commentaries and behind-the-scenes extras.
Revision 3 (United States, Australia, Canada)
Boasts thousands of Revision 3 content, which includes apps, games, movies and technology shows. Users can use Kinect’s gesture and voice controls to power content.
MLB.TV Refresh – (United States, United Kingdom, France, Australia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Japan, Ireland, New Zealand, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Brazil, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Russia, Poland, Colombia, Chile, South Africa, Czech Republic)
Gives access to 1,430 Major League Baseball games live or on-demand, including game highlights and recaps. Users can highlight their favorite teams and the app will keep them updated with their live games, highlights and the like.
