Frostbite 3 will be Powering the Next Dragon Age and Mass Effect
It seems like Battlefield 4 won’t be the only EA game running on Frostbite 3 engine next-gen. Word has come out that both the next Dragon Age and Mass Effect games will be utilizing the Frostbite 3 engine. This was revealed in a tweet by BioWare Edmonton and Montreal General Manager Aaryn Flynn.
Here is the tweet:
@YanickRRoy @stephentotilo We’re using Frostbite 3 for both DA3 and the next Mass Effect. Different games, but same engine fundamentals.
It was known for a long time that both these franchises will be utilizing the Frostbite engine. However, no one thought that it would be 3rd incarnation of the Frostbite engine.
An FPS, a TPS RPG and a party based RPG, all running on the same engine. This sure does speak volumes about the flexibility of Frostbite 3 engine.
