Irrational Games’ sequel to the BioShock franchise has been received with some of the highest video game review scores ever recorded.
Heading over to Metacritic, the Xbox 360 version of BioShock: Infinite boasts a 96 score, while the PS3 and PC editions follow up with 95 and 96 respectively. Coming to independent online reviewers, the game has been awarded with perfect scores from major websites.
Publisher 2K Games was pretty happy with the outcome. Earlier today, a representative marked Infinite to be the highest rated game of the year based on Metacritic average rankings across available platforms as of March 25, 2013.
Irrational Games creative director Ken Levine said today:
Today’s the day we’ve been looking forward to. Our redefinition of BioShock is ready to be delivered from our hands to those of gamers around the world. We believe Infinite is very much a BioShock experience, but at the same time something very fresh that both fans of the original and newcomers to the series will be able to enjoy.
