Castelvania: Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate Skills and Combos Guide


Cool moves and slick skills have always been an important part of Castlevania and it doesn’t change with Castelvania: Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate. Not only do they make you look like a badass but they also help you out a lot in combat. Following is a list of all the skills available in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, compiled only for you:

Dodge
One of the fundamentals of combat, dodge allows you to avoid taking damage from enemies, both on ground and mid-air. Hold L and move the analog stick to the left or right to perform the dodge.

Block
Another basic combat move, blocking can make weaker attacks ineffective both on ground and mid-air. However, be careful of stronger attacks that can overwhelm your defenses. Moves marked with white cannot be blocked. Hold L to keep blocking.

Synchronized Block
An advanced form of block, Synchronized Blocking opens up the target for counterattack, both on ground and mid-air. Hold L right before the attack connects.

Heavy Direct Counterstrike
The heavy direct counterstrike follows the synchronized block. You can perform it after the synchronized block to deal heavy damage to an enemy. It is much more powerful and quicker than the heavy area counterstrike. After performing a Synchronized block, press Y Y Y

Heavy Area Counterstrike
Heavy Area Counterstrike is another counterstrike that follows the synchronized block. It is not as powerful or quick as the Direct counterstrike but offers an area of effect damage which can also help keep you protected. After performing a Synchronized block, press X X X

Chained Grab
The chained grab allows you to finish enemies off with a damaging close range attack using the Combat Cross. It can be performed both in mid-air and on the ground, given that the enemy is open to grabs. When near an enemy open to the grab, press R.

Grab
The grab lets you to finish off enemies with a heavy close ranged attack. The grab can be performed both mid-air and on the ground. When enemy is stunned and open to grabs, press R.

Stomp
The stomp allows you to quickly descend to the ground to avoid aerial attacks. It can only be performed mid-air and allows you to skillfully dodge enemy attacks.

While in air, hold the L button and press DOWN on the analog stick to perform the stomp.

Fast Recovery
The fast recovery move lets you quickly return to combat after taking a hit. It cuts down on the time you are vulnerable so that you can avoid damage. Press B once you are open to attacks after taking a hit.

Direct Attack
Direct attack is the most basic attack move. You will be using this most of the time. Can be used both mid-air and on the ground. Press Y to perform a direct attack.

Area Attack
The area attack is another basic attack move in your arsenal. It deals damage to enemies and objects in a 90 degree arc. Can be used both mid-air and on the ground. Press X to perform the area attack.

Direct Attack Combo
The direct attack combo is a chain of direct attacks that form a powerful combo. It is the safest and easiest combo of your attacks along with the area attack combo. It can be used both mid-air and on ground. Press Y Y Y Y in succession to perform the Direct Attack Combo.

Area Attack Combo
The area attack combo is a chain of area attacks that form a powerful combo, damaging all enemies in a 180 arc. It is the safest and easiest combo of your attacks along with the direct attack combo. It can be used both mid-air and on ground. Press X X X X in succession to perform the Area Attack Combo.

Direct Attack Combo Final – The Final version of the direct combo adds another finishing attack which has a chance to leave the directed enemy vulnerable. It is another safe and easy combo to pull off. Press Y Y Y Y Y in succession to perform the Direct Attack Combo Final

Area Attack Combo Final
The Final version of the area combo adds another finishing move that attacks all surrounding enemies in a complete 360 arc. It is another safe and easy combo to add in to your attacks. Press X X X X X in succession to perform the Area Attack Combo Final.

Guillotine
Guillotine is a powerful attack which strikes down ground enemies by descending from mid-air. Can only be performed mid-air. It can be used both to dodge aerial attacks and destroy ground enemies. Hold Y while mid-air to perform the Guillotine.

Spinning Chain
An alternative to the guillotine, the spinning chain attack deals damage in an area. It can only be performed mid-air. The spinning chain catches nearby enemies in a whirlwind of the spinning chain. It can also be used to dodge attacks as well. Hold X while mid-air to perform the attack.

Rising Star
Rising star is a very quick launcher that sends a weak enemy into the area to receive more punishment mid-air. Press Y and B to perform the Rising Star.

Rising Assault
Slower than the Rising Star, the Rising assault is the area of effect alternative. It is still relatively quick and lifts multiple weak enemies into the air where you can finish them off. Press X and B to perform the Rising Assault.

Tremor Punch
The tremor punch is a charged up punch that breaks the enemy’s defense. It is not that powerful so it will be best to reserve it for situations where you need to break the enemy’s guard and have time to charge. Can be performed both mid-air and on the ground. Hold L and then hold Y to perform the Tremor Punch.

Earthquake Punch
The earthquake punch allows you to strike the ground with such a force that sends shockwaves capable of knocking down nearby enemies. It doesn’t do much damage to the enemies themselves and takes time to execute. Can be performed both mid-air and on ground. Hold L and then hold X to perform the Earthquake Punch.

Guillotine Final
The guillotine final adds in the chain to the move. It deals an insane amount of damage to the targeted enemy and finishes with a yank of the chain that knocks down nearby ground enemies. Can only be performed mid-air. Hold Y while mid-air to perform the Guillotine Final.

Spinning Chain Final
The spinning chain final adds more power and a finisher that deals a devastating chainsaw attack on ground. Can only be performed mid-air. Hold X while mid-air to perform the Spinning Chain Final.

Chain Shredder
The chain shredder is an extremely fast attack that deals swift consecutive hits to a single enemy. Hold Y to perform the Chain Shredder.

Chain Barrier
The chain barrier is a slow but powerful area of effect move that deals damage in consecutive arcs. Hold X and then X to perform the Chain Barrier.

Chain Shredder Final
The Chain Shredder Final adds in more power and a finisher which leaves the targeted enemy open to more attacks. The final attack can also break through an enemy’s defense.

Chain Barrier Final
The Chain Barrier Final adds in more power and a finisher that knocks down and breaks defenses of enemies caught in its effect. Hold X and then X to perform the Chain Barrier Final.

Hurricane
The Hurricane is a devastatingly powerful attack that builds upon the tremor punch. The hurricane is a swirling attack that extends horizontally and damaged all in its path. Keep holding Y after the Tremor Punch to perform the Hurricane.

Tornado
The Tornado is a devastatingly powerful attack that causes a tornado which deals damage to all nearby ground and aerial enemies caught in it. It builds upon the earthquake punch. Keep holding X after the Earthquake Punch to perform the Tornado.
